Topic: multiple if statements - problems

I have a list called 'numbers', and i want to sort out the even ones below 500. Here is the code I am trying:

for x in numbers:
    if x%2!=0 and x>500:
             continue
        print x

It works when I try just x%2!=0 or just x>500, but when I combine them I get both odd numbers and ones above 500. I have tried:  

if (x%2!=0 and x>500):

AND


for x in numbers:
    if x%2!=0:
           if x>500:
                   continue
    print x

also.
